Quito, the capital of Ecuador was founded in 16th century on the ruins of Inca city. Stands at an altitude of 2,850 meters above the sea level, spread across Andean Valley and flanked by volcanic peaks, it is one of the breathtaking cities of South America. Best Time to VisitIdeal time to visit Quito is during winters, in the months of June, July and August. The weather is pleasantly sunny with little wind or rain with average temperatures. Year-round temperatures of city averaging about 15 degrees, so no time during the year is in fact an unpleasant time to visit it. But rainy season during summer months from December through March must be avoided as it spoils the fun of outdoor activities.
